New Balance was announcing big news in the basketball world, signing who is likely to be the 2025 #1 NBA Draft Pick - Cooper Flagg. Originally from Newport, Maine, the client, agency and director’s had a vision to shoot this vintage spot to give a nod to Flag’s roots and the identity of Northern Maine.

Vulpine was contacted to source locations in Bangor, ME that fit the scope of the job - 1-2x car garages with rustic hoops and a sunrise/sunset behind. Surprisingly, Bangor was full of vintage garages and within one sunset and one sunrise Vulpine had identified, photographed and sun-mapped over 60 properties. From there the directors selected their top choices and Vulpine circled back around to pitch the concept to the home owners - none who had ever had anything to do with film production before.

The one day shoot had a 5:15 AM call time and a 50+ person crew - for a small neighborhood in Bangor, this was big news, however it needed to be shrouded in secrecy. Coupled with the forecast of torrential rain all throughout the day, this was on the edge of a production nightmare. But with a great team, we ground it out and captured a stunning cinematic piece to usher in Flagg to the New Balance family.
